How Philanthropy is Tackling High Burden Health Gaps and the Power of Celebrity Advocacy

Powerful gains are being made through private investment and celebrity advocacy – exemplified through campaigns like ‘Make Fibroids Count’, which was championed by WME Client Lupita Nyong’o in partnership with the Foundation for Women’s Health (FWH) and fibroid expert Dr. Shirazian. Fibroids is one of many conditions historically underfunded that bears a high burden of pain and suffering on women all over the world. FWH identifies understudied and underfunded research questions across the entire continuum of the female lifecycle – from adolescence through menopause and beyond – and funds the most innovative and impactful research proposals to fill those gaps and swiftly improve lives and health outcomes. Answers are within reach, and research is the solution; it’s up to us to take action and fund it. In this session, we uncover what’s possible when we properly invest in women’s health, and how celebrity engagement can so powerfully move the needle, with Katy Brodsky Falco, Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation for Women’s Health and NYU Langone’s Dr. Tara Shirazian.
